About Gary Johnson
Passion. Persistence. Perseverance.
I started racing at a young age in local and national motocross events, until turning old enough to gain my advanced motorcycle license. From there on, I bought my first road bike and attended a few local track days at Cadwell Park, which soon became my second home for over the next years to come.
I then entered club racing events, starting with Auto66, progressing into Derby Phoenix, New Era and eventually MRO, where I competed in my 10 events and got rid of my novice vest. The following week, I entered in the British Superbike series in the Supersport class, where I qualified top 20 and worked my way up to 8th in the race; looking to pass Pere Riba (and spanner'd myself at the Gooseneck!)
That was my first taste of the British Superbike series and where I then raced until 2007, and started my assault on the real roads campaign.
My first TT win came in 2011 with the East Coast Construction team. I have achieved many international podiums later followed with my 2nd win with Smiths racing in 2014 on the Triumph 675.
